The exterior of this wheel thrown cup was glazed with an aventurine recipe that I developed. Aventurine is a crystalline glaze featuring hematite/iron oxide crystals of various sizes, beginning as teeny glittery specks along the rim that flow downwards depositing larger flecks as it flows.
All of my glazes are food safe. The aventurine is made using Caliche —a Sonoran Desert calcium carbonate—as an essential ingredient.
Occasional dishwasher and microwave use is fine.
