Tumblers, mugs, a couple of plates and a bowl
Desert Canyons
I wanted to see how a plate and a bowl in this style might look paired with a mug, so here are my very first Desert Canyon plates. I may or may not make more of these, to be honest. It just had to be tried :)
I hesitated to sell a plate and/or bowl together with a mug, in case you might prefer a plate with a tumbler or with a piece you have already purchased from me.
All of the stoneware pieces are microwave and dishwasher safe, although gentle hand washing is recommended. They also have a bit of texture to them.
I sand and smooth the unglazed parts but the glazed parts have teeny bits of texture poking through here and there. If you prefer a smoother piece, you may want to opt for the porcelain tumblers further below.
This series is inspired by the vast blue skies, rocky landscapes, and cacti that I grew up in (and where I still live).

Altars
I think of an altar as a space for quiet reflection, connecting to Nature or a higher power, to set intentions, to place meaningful items, or to light a candle/incense to fill the room with light or a pleasant scent.
Nature is where I go to recalibrate and reflect, feel awe and connection to the Earth. My teeny place in the universe comes into focus, which is refreshing. My altars are inspired by rocky desert canyons and tinajas —a concave depression carved into granite—where rainwater collects and reflects the sky.
I like to fill the pools in these altars with local sand/crushed rock and create a mini fire ring out of desert rocks, then place a cone/block of incense over the rocks. It creates a teeny campfire reminiscent of one the things I love most about camping.
All altars are high fired and made with food safe glazes for easy washing. They are designed to be placed on either a flat surface or hung on the wall.

This altar is considered a ‘second’ due to a crack in the small pool and also glaze flaws (see last two photos). These flaws are cosmetic and will not affect its functionality. Fill the pool area with sand you won’t even see them :) **

Porcelain Tumblers
I’m offering a limited number of made to order Porcelain Desert Canyon Tumblers.
This listing is for a $50 deposit that applies to the total cost of your tumbler. Once the deposit is paid for, I will reach out to you via email to chat about preferences for your tumbler.
After we have settled on a design, please allow up to 8-10 weeks for your piece to be completed.
The price for a glazed tumbler similar to those shown is $120. Additional sculpted elements such as more rocks, cacti, or a skull can be discussed.
Each tumbler looks different and is the result of my following the lead of the random form the initial canyon texture takes when applied. Your tumbler will be similar but not identical to any I have made.
I aim to make two tumblers per order so that you can select the one you prefer more.
