Thanks for your interest in my ceramics!

Wood Fired Pottery

Food safety will be discussed within each listing.

These wood fired pots were made in collaboration with the elements: fire, air, earth, wood, water — plus the attention, expertise, and effort of many potters to tend to the wood kiln over several days.

The resulting pieces are irreplicable because the exact conditions of each firing can’t be repeated. What emerged from the kiln are pots imprinted with an ancient story of earth materials under intense heat, currents of air flowing over them carrying wood ash that contain glaze minerals which settle on surfaces contributing to each pot’s raw, unpredictable, wild appearance.

My imagination sees otherwordly scenes: tempestuous landscapes, skies from another planet, volcanic eruptions, lightning storms, charred or sun kissed geological formations.

These pots are not for everyone. If you prefer the appearance of smoother, polished, or more predictable ceramics you may not be into these.

If you appreciate the raw, random variation in textures, surfaces, and appearance of a rock or other natural object, wood fired pottery might be your thing..

The interior surfaces of all pieces labeled ‘cups’ are food safe. The exterior surfaces tend to have a smoother side and a more rough, textured side. Please review all photos and videos to familiarize yourself with the full character of each piece to help you decide whether you’d like to purchase.

Altars

I think of an altar as a space for quiet reflection, connecting to a higher power, to set intentions, to place meaningful items, or to light a candle/incense to fill the room with light or a pleasant scent.

Nature is where I go to recalibrate and reflect, feel awe and connection to the Earth. My teeny place in the universe comes into focus, which is refreshing.

All altars are high fired and made with food safe glazes for easy washing. They are designed to be placed on either a flat surface or hung on the wall.
