Lithified Porcelain Canyon Vase.
This vase was selected and included in the Southern Mississippi Ceramics National Show last fall. None of the works in this show were for sale, only on exhibit. I'm offering it here for newsletter subscribers.
The exterior of this vase mimics the structure and surface of a canyon wall, capturing its solidity and fragility. I sculpted a fragmented facade with loose rocks, embellished with moss and cacti precariously perched in tiny pockets of soil.
It is made with food safe glazes so it can be used as a vase or pot. It measures 5.75" tall, 4.5" in diameter at the base, and 3.5" at the rim.
Made with porcelain clay and high fired to 2345 degrees fahrenheit (cone ten). The interior is glazed in turquoise. The exterior is punctuated with vibrant green glazes.
Hand washing is recommended, although occasional dishwasher cleaning is fine.
