**PLEASE READ: Although cracking on the exterior of this mug is intentional, when one shows up near the handle it becomes a second and is reduced in price, even if it's a surface crack (see last photo). I am so certain that this crack will not cause the handle to break off that I will completely refund the cost of this mug if it happens to break along the crack during normal use (not if it's dropped on the floor though, almost all handles will break if that happens).**
This mug was made to resemble the structure and surface of a canyon wall, capturing its solidity and fragility. It feels like a rock but is also smooth in the right spots.
The canyon texture was applied to the exterior of a wheel thrown mug and allowed to begin cracking, guiding where I sculpted and carved the fragmented facade. The cracks do not penetrate the wall of the mug, they are merely decorating the surface. Embellished with blooming cacti that are precariously perched in tiny pockets of soil. Each handle is individually carved to offer a comfortable grip.
Made with porcelain clay and high fired to 2345 degrees fahrenheit (cone ten). The interior is glazed in a satin white. The exterior is punctuated with vibrant turquoise and green glazes.
Hand washing is recommended, although occasional dishwasher cleaning is fine.
