A wheel thrown and altered art pitcher -- functional sculpture that you can touch and interact with.
Inspired by 'tinajas' which are pools formed over time by water flowing on bedrock in the desert. Tinaja also means clay jar in Spanish. It is meant to look like a small pool of rainwater (the spout) flowing down to a large pool surrounded by sculpted rocks, and then to a smaller pool on the handle. The handle is sculpted to resemble precariously stacked rocks, sanded smooth so it's comfortable to hold.
High fired to 2345 degrees fahrenheit (cone ten) and fully vitrified. Durable enough to use daily. The interior is glazed in a light satin turquoise. The exterior is lightly glazed and accented with a darker turquoise. Glazes are food safe.
Hand washing recommended although occasional dishwasher cleaning is fine.
