With this mug I was focused primarily on mimicking the structure and surface of a canyon wall. I sculpted a cracking and fragmented facade with loose rocks around the handle, punctuated with cacti.
Made with stoneware clay and fired to 2345 degrees fahrenheit (cone ten), the interior is glazed in white. Gold luster (real gold) was applied to the cacti and then again fired to 1300+ degrees.
Hand washing recommended due to the gold luster. Food safe.
