All pieces were fired to 2345F in an electric kiln using food safe glazes. They are all fully vitrified. All cups/mugs are microwave and dishwasher safe. Hand washing is preferred.

Desert Canyon Altars
A miniature desert canyon landscape that you can mount to the wall or place on a flat surface.

It has many possible uses: a place to display small special items, a ring dish, add a pile of sand and stick an incense cone in it, some are large enough for a tea light. Made with food safe glazes so you can squeeze ketchup into it and dip fries in it (I won't judge).
Or just leave it as is and admire the glaze pools.

Caliche Aventurine Cups
Photos don't quite capture the complexity of this sparkly, flowy, kind of iridescent glaze. It needs to be seen in full sunlight (see video below).

This Aventurine glaze is made with Tucson Valley calcium carbonate rocks instead of pure imported commercial calcium carbonate, aka 'whiting'. Calcium carbonate is an essential ingredient in the original recipe I developed in 2019. Caliche has retained all the sparkly, crystalline qualities of the original and adding a subtle, distinctly Sonoran Desert character.

Each batch of rocks are pulverized by yours truly and the resulting glaze will be slightly different based on the chemical composition of that particular batch of Caliche. I gathered the Caliche on my property, had this batch professionally tested to determine its precise chemical composition, and then developed a food safe glaze with it.

Rock Tumblers
Four of these geologically inspired tumblers include small chunks of local feldspar embedded and fired into the clay. They are fully fused and non toxic.

Virtually all commercial clays and glazes include feldspar as an ingredient. My local feldspar was tested for toxic levels of elements such as lead using a handheld XRF spectrometer.

Figuring out how to seamlessly fire rocks into clay and select those that are compatible with my work took years of intermittent research and development. I'm so excited to share these with you.

Canyons
Inspired by geological formations in Desert Canyons as well as the plants and minerals that can be found within them.

Anthropocene
Inspired by fossils found while hiking and then imagining how our fossils might look in a far distant future. Two are made using rocks from the very mountains that inspired them.
